My name is Sian and I am 13 years old and live in Scotland, United Kingdom.
Today I want to tell you the story of my beloved chihuahua Poppy.I have to be truthful and honest so when my mum initially told me that her friends chihuahua had had a litter if puppies and we might be getting one I wasn’t exactly over the moon . My experience of chihuahuas was that they were yappy little handbag dogs and to be frank I was not really excited at all…..how wrong I was .
So we got in the car and my mum was like a kid at Christmas all excited as I think she had already made the decision that we were getting one .
Anyways we arrived at the house where the puppies were and as we walked in we were greeted by mummy chihuahua who was the friendliest lickiest (not sure if that’s a real word ) dog ever . She made us feel welcome and I began to wonder if my conceptions of chihuahuas were wrong .
So in we went to see the pups, who were so so tiny . They were only 4 days old and were so tiny , I remember thinking they were no longer than my thumb. They were wriggling around in their blanket and they looked so cute .
There was a total of five in the litter a white one, a golden one (Poppy) two chocolate ones and a black one.Mum decided there and then that we were having the white one and so off we went , and deep inside I think I was a little more excited than I had been .
Anyway about a month later we went back to the house and there were now five bundles of fluff .They had grown so much in that short period of time. All the other pups were playing around with each other in the middle of the room whilst poppy was in a corner , underneath a chair playing with a Christmas bauble.
When we say down on the couch all of the other dogs ignored is but poppy bounced over to see us and then promptly fell asleep on my lap .The decision had been made and it wasn’t us who made the choice Poppy had picked me . I felt so special and our bond started to grow from that day.
Claire the dogs owner then proceeded to tell us how well all the dogs were doing and then she told us all the names she had given them.Poppy was the golden one, lily the white one that we nearly had. The two chocolate ones were Rocky and Rolo and the little black one was Rocco. She said “I remember when Rolo was about 2 days old, he took his first few steps and then crashed on the floor.”
On the day we went to collect Poppy I was so excited. When we first got her home , she was ever so shy and timid but within a few hours she was bouncing up and down like she owned the place . She really is a crazy chihuahua and has totally changed my opinion of these wonderful little dogs, and don’t tell me mum but the reality is that Poppy is my dog and ways will be, after all she picked me
I hope you tell you some funny stories in the future and can’t wait to read other people’s stories about their wonderful dogs .
